Russian River Vineyards wins awards at 2016 Harvest
(Forestville, CA) October
4, 2016 Russian River Vineyards winemaker, Gio Balistreri, is proud to
announce the winery’s recent awards garnered at the 2016 Sonoma County Harvest
Fair. With more than 1094 wines entered,
the West County vineyard and winery was awarded a double gold and best of class
for the prestigious Pinot Noir offered at $65 or more.
Balistreri, a co-owner in the vineyard, winery, and The Restaurant
at Russian River Vineyards, became winemaker in 2012, having been mentored by
previous winemaker Anthony Austin. Austin continues to work with Balistreri, and
the combined talents have helped the winery to grow its production and the
quality of their wines.
With a limited 330 case production of the 2014 Horse Ridge
Vineyard Pinot Noir, it is expected to become a favorite with the publishing of
this year’s award winners. The award-winning
wine is available at the winery/restaurant tasting room and online through the
winery’s wine club.
“This wine is exceptional in part because of the vineyard’s eastern
facing slope along the Russian River corridor, which gives the Pinot grapes
just the right blend of sunshine and cooling fog. We look forward to producing
great wines from these grapes for years to come,” said Balistreri.
In addition to the Horse Ridge Pinot, the winery took a gold
award for their 2014 Burke Family Vineyards, Silver awards for their 2014
Chardonnay and their 2015 Valley’s Hand Vineyard Gewurztraminer and a bronze
award for the 2015 Sauvignon Blanc.
