Since 1971, wetlands all over the world have been designated by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands to highlight the importance of wetlands and the ecosystem services they provide. The Laguna de Santa Rosa received this distinction in 2011.
The Laguna Wetlands is of international importance because of the rare and endangered plant and animal species found here, the vast biodiversity of the region, and our unique vernal pool environments. As Sonoma County's richest wildlife area, the Laguna Wetlands bring nutrients and water to thousands of acres of farmland - helping fuel spring growth and autumn harvest. We live in a special place - one recognized not just locally, but internationally.
To celebrate your local wetland, please stop by for this special Open House and consider making a donation to support our work to conserve and restore the Laguna for people and wildlife, and for many more generations.
